Lupa has enabled the creation of a unique online gallery that showcases the work of artist Paul Benedict Brand. With support throughout, the process of converting physical material into a virtual environment presented many challenges which have been elegantly resolved.
Lupa has been tireless in its search for and application of solutions in a complex project.
We are delighted that over 2000 of Paul's images can now be enjoyed by an online audience.
Lupa was asked to design and develop an online space for exhibiting the art and works of artist Paul Benedict Brand. The website shall include a searchable online gallery, the artist’s biography as well as explaining his inspirations and the techniques he developed over his lifetime.
The second part of the brief was to create a content management system capable of managing the content of every artwork.
Since there are many artworks, it was essential to develop a structure and classification that would enable fast access and filtering on the website front end.
Many of Paul Benedict Brand’s paintings have sketches associated with them, and sometimes there are series of artworks around a common theme. This meant that the content management system needed to be able to find and link those related images.
The engine of the gallery is a powerful filter bar that allows visitors to search the entire collection based on criteria such as media, subject, artwork availability (e.g., sold, not for sale, on loan, etc.), or simply by using a key word search field.
After selecting an artwork, additional information such as the year and the artwork dimensions are displayed alongside the artwork image.
For desktop and tablet devices, the page layout is adjusted automatically to suit the orientation of the artwork. If an artwork is available for sale, a form appears allowing you to send an enquiry.
